My Son's report on Checkers

It’s undeniable that Filipino are fond of games or sports. We also new that the geographical location of the Philippine is near the equator. But not all the time, its sunny day , there are times that heavy rain occurs in our country. Because of this, indoor games are suggested. One of the ideal indoor games is checker.

Checkers originated from Egypt and was introduced to Europe in the 16th century. Here in the Philippines, checkers is also known as “Dama”. Playing checkers was really great. It needs your logical thinking in order to win. During our mini-tournament here in our classroom, the area was covered with silence, ( some played at the Ceramic Tiles floor )  bus analyzing what would be there next move.

Indeed, checkers is a board game full of fun!

Xbox at 50% off the price ?

We saw at American Surplus  Store an Xbox 360  sold at 50% off the price. My hubby wanted to buy it   since their were only few units left  but I told him to  weigh our priority first before buying. Our kids have been longing to have an Xbox at home .. maybe this is the time  since  summer is here and I will not worry anymore about their studies. We told the kids of the promo and they were excited to play the latest game like the Assassin's Creed , Call of  Duty and other     xbox live subscription games.  The sale ends March 31...  we will purchase it on the 28th... in celebration of our wedding anniversay.

Bring back the old fashion way !

I understand that we are already in the digital world but as parents we have the right to choose games our children will play. I believe that video games are making our children lazy when compared to playing old fashioned board games like backgammon , scrabble, monopoly, chess and Chinese checker. Video games used cheats as short cuts instead of allowing our children to use their minds to figure things out in playing the conventional board games. So once in a while… allow your children to play the old fashion way. Okey?
