Thankful Thursday

Unexpectedly my son, got a SILVER MEDAL during the graduation of the SCHOOL OF DISCIPLES ( 9th batch) . All of us were surprised as the School Dean announced his name. Isaiah John is one of the youngest among the 40 students. Some of his classmates are already in college and some are already working ( teachers and engineers). Thank God for his dedication while under training for 6 months. He was able to bear the 3-day fasting, the on-the-job evangelism and all other activities required by the school.

I'm the family's best photographer

I love taking pictures with my Canon 550D. It makes me feel like a real photographer. My 18 mega pixels camera brings good result with its higher picture resolution. However, I just want to customize my picture that is why I really want to learn photoshop. Selected few of the youth in our church are quite knowledgeable with this kind of application and perhaps this summer I will engage myself in Photoshop tutorial. I am also planning to buy ITIL Books and photoshop tutorial books. Once I learned the basic, I’m going to be the Family’s Best Photographer .

99% in Trigonometry

Me and my hubby went to the school for the  Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC). The teacher proudly expressed  her joy over the good grades of my son - Isaiah John.  He was the highest in class for the subject Trigonometry at 99% , while he got  97%   to 98% in other subjects.

Wow! My son did good in school . Thank You Lord!

Paying For College

Image via Flickr
College can be very expensive, and many people don't know how to pay for it. It's hard enough to get through school, and trying to maintain a job on top of that is going to be tough. As much as you don't want to leave school in debt, it's practically inevitable and may be your best option. Choosing one of the following options for obtaining money can keep things hassle free throughout your college experience and won't be as stressful as other alternatives once you graduate.

Apply For Grants

Grants are an amount of money issued by the government and given to students to help them pay for school. You don't need to pay for these grants, that's why many people apply for it. The amount of money you receive from grants is based on your financial need. This money is not given to youdirectly, but is given to the college and deducted from your account. You can find information on how to apply through your college's financial aid office.

Apply For Scholarships

Scholarships are similar to grants, but are provided to students through various businesses and organizations rather than the government. Types of scholarships vary and the amount you receive may be different throughout each scholarship. Some scholarships are based on financial need, while others look at your leadership qualities, talents, and other criteria. You can find various scholarships through your high school guidance office, the college you are applying to, and the Internet.

Get an Installment Loan

Installment loans are preferred by college students because they are easy to budget into their finances. Installment loans are those that have a fixed amount of money you pay back every period, so there are never any surprises. Although some of these loans require a credit check, you can find companies online that won't check your credit and will allow you to borrow several hundred dollars at low interest rates. Plus, it helps you build your credit so you can qualify for larger loans in the future.

Apply For a Subsidized Loan

Subsidized loans are those that don't acquire interest until you graduate from college. Normally, you have six months after you graduate to begin paying off your loan. These are great for students because you don't have to worry about them until you have a job and can start paying them back. You can usually obtain these with the same application you fill out for grants, so check with your college's financial aid office for more information.

“ With great power comes great responsibility"

This is the often-quoted dialogue of Uncle Ben to Peter which is absolutely true . This saying not only reminds me of the blockbuster movie “ Spider Man” but also reminds me of my own dear son. Why? He’s an academic scholar in one of the universities in the city. With great privilege ( Free School Tuition, books, uniforms ) comes great responsibilities also. Almost every night he’s burning his midnight candle studying his lessons , doing research works or making projects. Oftentimes , we are to the rescue for tasks needs our expertise. Just like last night, my hubby helped on making building miniature using peg board. It was a difficult project, but with us helping him, it was made easier .

Operation Booklet Printing

As the third quarter is approaching, my son who is now sophomore student is quite busy with all his projects that he seeks for our help. I cannot say no to him considering that he is a consistent honor student and I want him to maintain his scholastic records. I just remember my life back in my high school days wherein we are required to write a book report and since computer is not yet in during that time, I have to accomplish it in typewritten format and have it compiled in a folder.

Unlike with my son now wherein they need to have it printed. He has to submit a 50-pages Research Paper in booklet form which will be due before this month ends. It is not the only projects that was lined up on his list of priorities. That is why I volunteered for the booklet printing. I know booklet printing isn't that easy especially the paging. Good thing I used to prepare  wedding programs so I know how to print booklet with pages sequencing. It also made me think of reviving our internet business wherein we can accept printing services so that I could earn more from it. However, with my busy schedules, I guess, I still have to pray for it. Right now, I need to concentrate on helping my son so that he could submit all his projects on time. I know the pressures that he went through right now but I tried to explain to him that as a student he needs to persevere. He will be the one who will be benefited in all his endeavors in the long run. Am I right?

Thankful Thursday : My kids

To maintain above average grade for an academic scholarship is not easy and is a great challenge. My son tried to give his best shot in every quiz, exam , project and task assigned to him. He oftentimes sleeps late and wakes up early to study, review and finished his assignments.

As I am writing this post, he’s beside me doing some write-ups for his English Subject. I can not help but THANK GOD for the knowledge, wisdom, talent, skill ,determination and good health He has given to my Son. He’s now in 3rd year High School. Thank you Lord that for three years you sustained him with everything he needs.

Go to School by Hook or by Crook !

The kids are getting lazy to do their school  assignments and projects today . Monday and Tuesday are holiday here in our country since it is Eid ul-Fitr - the end of Ramadan. My little girl begged  not to go to school since according to her   Tropical Storm Mina is still in the country. She added that our Vehicle is  under repair so nobody would  fetch her from  school.  Her  reasoning nearly convinced me but  her Dad   told her to go to school by " hook or by crook".

Reflection : War in Libya

This is my son's Reflection on the news about the war in Libya :

There are I think several ways that this news will affect our country. First on the positive side, a peace can be seen looming in this part of the East country and that oil exports will be restored that greatly affect the price of our oil export and import and our consumption too. This would also affect the worldwide economy and also ours. And we cannot forget that there many overseas Filipino workers in Libya. There safety is also a big concern. By what happened, we can look forward to their safety, and those who were deported due to the chaos in Libya can go back again and work. But on the other hand, it’s too early to say that peace is assured in this battle weary country. Let’ s just hope for the best that the Libyans will work hard and keep let peace reign in their country.

My son was crying.....

Why? Because he was deeply worried on his examination result in school. He was not able  to study well and submit the school project on time because  of the many activities in church. Since last Sunday, our church has lots of activities of which my son is involve. He is a member of Spectrum Band ( Junior Band of our church) and they were required to attend the solidarity nights. He is a   full academic scholar  and has a grade to meet in maintaining the scholarship. He  was so pressured that he can not help but cry....

Panic Mode?

Yes! I am!

So many things to do yet so little time to do it all! Got lots of works to finished in the office but I can't tender overtime since it's the exam week of my 5th grader and my  son in high school. I have to tutor my girl on her pointers and have to assist my son in his trigonometry subject. My son is an academic scholar, so I have to focus on his math and chemistry which are difficult. Aside from that, they have lots of projects to be passed this week.

Waaah! And there's my brother who's a manager of a beach resort. His boss just arrived in Manila and  was inquiring for hotel accommodation. The internet connection of the resort was not working.... so my brother is asking my help !

What about my blogging? Got to burn the midnight candle to follow back fellow bloggers in our weekly caravan.HELP!

Exam week

Today starts the Monthly Examination of my kids. Whew! So timely both of them got the same schedule ... so my hubby and I are so busy assisting them with their studies. Me for my little girl and my hubby for my high school son. I no longer have the luxury to blog in the evening... so here I am early morning doing my rounds.

God bless you kids with your exam. Have the presence of mind and pray for knowledge and wisdom. You can make it ... God is with you.

TT : 100% Free Enrollment and Miscellaneous

I was at the school's director office lobby waiting for the approval of my request for school enrollment discount. I was asking for 50 % discount but to my surprised the School Director, granted at 100 % discounted for the enrollment and miscellaneous fee. Wow! Thank you Lord. Thank you Rev. Eun Sun Seo of Immanuel Mission International School! I saved a lot .. now I can buy for nee school uniform, shoes and bags! Praise the Lord!

Thankful Thursday : Kids Enrollment

I am forever grateful to God for my son's academic scholarship. While most of the parents are struggling financial with the School Enrollment this month, me and my hubby are worry-free knowing that my son's enrollment fees, month tuition, books and uniform are free. GOD is so good for sustaining him with knowledge, wisdom and good health.

Six Words Saturday

Two weeks more before classes starts

Bruning the candle night after night

The kids’ school year is now ending and I must admit that we are yearning and looking forward to having ample time of sleep and rest after burning the candle night after night in order to help our kids finish all their school assignment and final exam’s requirements. The projects, research, essays, write-ups, book reports and many others took its toll on our eyes. I and my hubby have dark circles under our eyes! And our friends started to notice it.

What should I do and what is the best advise on how to get rid of dark circles under my eyes ? Honestly, i’m beginning to worry about it. Though my husband encouraged me that in due time, those dark circles will disappear. All we have to do is sleep 7 to 8 hours and it will vanish. But I just want to be sure that the dark circles under my eyes will be gone in time of the wedding of our friend at church.

New Nurses

Congratulations to our friends who recently passed the Nursing Board Exam and to all those who will be graduating next week...special mentioned to our god daughter - Ms. Kerren Daug. Time flies so swiftly! The baby we cuddled 19 years ago is now going to be a full pledge nurse. My daughter who's till in 4th grade wanted to be a nurse too! She told me she love to wear nurses uniforms someday . I hope her desire will change when she will  in  high school  considering that    unemployment of nurses is  increasing per year  because  hiring overseas was suspended.  I hope this trend will change in the coming years.

Thank You Mr. Google

This week hubby and I are so busy helping our kids with their school requirements. It's the final week for the school year 2010 -2011. I just wonder why teachers are giving projects in time for the final exams. The kids can not longer focus on studying since they have still projects to comply. Anyway, as parents we are always here to rescue. Last night I had a hard time looking for graph library for son's match project. I hate drawing graphs but thanks to Google I was redirected to the exact site that deals with graphs.

Math Lesson : X + Y = 0

For 3 days I was out from the blogosphere  due to  my son's final exam. He had a hard time understanding his algebra so I  taught him some math techniques  and basic formulas. Thank God for the stored knowledge, I was able to solve the problems easily . I pray my son will be able to get good grades since he has a scholarship to maintain.

LDCU Foundation Day 201

Those brightly colored hands and costumes reflect joyfulness, hope and  positive attitude. Two weeks of practicing our number is quite rewarding. Being part of something noble that we can contribute for our beloved school like this one (This is for the LdeCU Foundation Day) extends our desire to be productive students of our school. The tiring repetitions of the movements of our dance teaches us patience and excellence in everything we do. This is one of our expressions of our God-given talents that we want to share to others and dedicate  it to our school.
Our presentation is a sight to behold and we all enjoyed it. Donning all these costumes really encouraged us to be positive alwas, determined to succeed no matter what circumstances lie ahead. All Shakespeareans must be resilient, strong willed, determined, focused and have a never say never attitude. This is what we are...this is what we will be. To God be all the thanksgiving and glory.
